Over the course of the semester my fellow classmates have also been blogging, and I have been observing their blogs. I will share three different blogs that I have found the most interesting.
Danielle, this post is about bullying and how much it affects the students in the classroom. But not just bullying in person, in todays society a major issue is cyber bullying. She points out very good points about how students are getting social media accounts at younger and younger ages due to the fact that students now have cell phones at younger ages also. She states how she is going to handle this situation in her classroom, one of the things that she wants to do is make sure each child feels included. One way to do this she will have a new seating chart every other week or every week. By doing this she will allow the students to move around and have each student feel involved with all of the students in the classroom. Ryan has a blog about flipped classrooms, he describes what this is. If you have never heard of a flipped classroom what it is, is a classroom where the students have the ability to watch the lectures at home and then when they come into the classroom they will have the chance to ask any questions they may have, they are then willing to work on homework while in class. The benefits about a flipped classroom is it allows the students to ask more questions they have about the homework. The negative side of this, as Ryan points out, this may be harder to do in the younger grades like grades 1 and 2. Although, he does mention an app you are able to use. This app is called Tackk. This is a app that allows you to post pictures and then also you can have a box that comes up to write down any questions. This way the students will not forget what they were going to ask. Mary has a post about google classroom. This is something that I do not know much about. In her post I learned that you can create classes, post assignments/due dates, send feedback, and post reminders for students. This app is very helpful for the students who have a problem with organization. This is helpful because all of the information is in one place, including where they will post assignments. I think that the best part is they will get reminders when the assignment is due. This is helpful because the phrase “I didn’t know when it was due” is now an invalid excuse. By reading my classmates blog has opened my eyes to even more the the techonolgy that can be used in the classroom.
